Included here are his meditations on coming out in the 1970s in Virginia, the power of gay fiction, low-budget filmmaking with friends in New York, his heady experience of seeing GODS AND MONSTERS being made into a major movie release, and why he and his partner have no intention of getting married.

JAMES T. SEARS has written much about gay life in the American south. His latest is EDWIN AND JOHN.

Set in the years of World War Two and the post-war period, Sears uses diaries, letters and poems to craft a narrative history of two gay men growing up in the south in the early and mid-20th Century. John Ziegler and Edwin Peacock had a relationship that lasted for nearly fifty years. They both came from conservative backgrounds, shared service during the war and settled together in Charleston, South Carolina, where they opened a bookstore. They became friends with some of the prominent literary figures in the south through their store.

NICK BURD's first novel is THE VAST FIELDS OF ORDINARY.

We start with Dade Hamilton. He's finishing up his summer vacation, just before starting college. He has a low-level job at a food market. His "boyfriend" won't acknowledge him, probably because the "boyfriend" is also dating one of the most popular girls in school. His parents are on the verge of breaking up. Add to the mix the shock when his small Iowa town has to deal with the disappearance of a nine-year-old.

Enter the mysterious Alex Kincaid, a charming misfit with all the wrong friends. Alex brings some new energy to what Dade regards as dreary topography. But things get intense and relationships have consequences; Dade finds this out and the events that transpire will change his life forever.
